Character: Shadow
Canon: Zoids
Version: Chaotic Century/Guardian Force (show)
Canon Point: Before his death in ep 57
Age: Date of creation unknown
Gender: Technically none. Masculine seeming though when compared to the generic Organoid build, so male pronouns used.
History: http://zoids.wikia.com/wiki/Shadow
Personality: Shadow is a small Zoid, known as an Organoid, much like main character Zeke; however unlike the silver Organoid, the black one is fierce, not afraid to show what he thinks about a situation. In some ways he is almost feral, not holding the same views as most other people on Zi. Shadow cares for nothing and no-one other than his master, the human Raven. If threatened, he won't hesitate to attack, confident in his power. He is utterly uncontrollable by anyone who isn't his master, and does not trust anyone he doesn't know.
Raven is possibly the closest thing Shadow has to family. After being 'born' and fleeing, Shadow was captured, and Raven was the only one able to tame him. The Organoid has a deep respect for Raven, and total loyalty to him, following him anywhere Raven cares to go. Even after his memory was lost at a later canon point, Raven still managed to get through to him and retame him. Shadow has a bond to his master, and one of the few things he cares about is Raven's safety. He will allow no harm to come to him. He often feels upset or lonely when Raven goes into a battle and doesn't take him too. Shadow wants only to be useful to his master, and when he can't it bothers him. He worries greatly about the human, almost afraid that he will not be there when Raven needs him most. Shadow's had to bail him out of a dying Zoid before, and if he isn't there one day…
One interesting thing about Shadow is that he has very little view of what is right and what is wrong. Destroying Zoids is obviously not a good thing to do, since they're semi-sentient, but he does it anyway. No, for Shadow there is only what Raven wants, and what Raven doesn't want. If master tells him to do it, he'll do it without a second thought (unless it's something like staying back; then he doesn't like it, but he'll obey). No one's opinion matter except for Raven's. After that, there is only what he wants. When Shadow's free to do whatever he wants, he'll do whatever comes to mind and won't care what other people think of it. The only person that can stop him is his master. If someone lectures him on what is good and not good to do, he will only be confused.
Despite all this, it's also true that Shadow is really only a youngish Zoid. Despite what his master says, he can be rather curious about things he doesn't understand. When Raven was hurt when Shadow was untamed, he investigated the human curiously, even though his master at that time was telling him to ignore Raven. So when Raven isn't needing him for something, he investigates things he doesn't understand, in an effort to learn more about the world. If he understands it all, he can protect and help his master more efficiently, after all. Or at least, that's the reason he tells himself.
Fears: As a robot, there really isn't a lot that Shadow fears. The things he does fear mostly revolve around the central idea of anything happening to Raven. He can't let master get hurt. Master is everything to Shadow. Without him…though despite not wanting to be apart from Raven, he doesn't fear being alone. He is mostly just afraid of things happening to Raven. Everything else…yeah. Nadda. He knows he has the power to take out a Zoid larger than himself, and defeat anyone who stands in his way. He doesn't really believe he has anything to fear.
Weaknesses: Shadow has very few real weaknesses. His curiosity can be one, but he also has power to defend himself and a distrust of people, which makes that hard to exploit. His wings are perhaps one of the major ones, as without them he can't do as much. With them damaged, he'd be unable to fight as efficiently, and wouldn't be able to fuse with a Zoid. He can also overheat and burn out if he uses too much power in a short period of time, though this usually only occurs when he stays fused to an especially powerful Zoid for a long period of time.
Mundane Strengths/Abilities: As an Organoid, Shadow has various abilities. He can fly using the wings built into his back, which can be stored away when not in use. His primary ability is fusing with a larger Zoid's core by turning into energy and entering the Zoid. While fused with a Zoid, he can boost the Zoid's power, heal them or even cause them to evolve. He cannot do this with other machines though, only Zoids. Another Organoid ability, inside his plating is mostly hollow, filled with wires. He can open these plates and use the wires to pick a person up and pull them inside. This is usually used as an escape mechanism if Raven's Zoid was ever destroyed while he was inside and Shadow was fused to it; Shadow could grab him and get them both out of the way.
Shadow also has a good deal of power in his own right. Though only a small Zoid, Shadow has enough power to rip straight through other Zoids, destroying their cores and causing them to explode. He's fairly fast too, able to keep up with a larger Zoid at a run.
An interesting thing to mention too is that when a Zoid ‘dies’ it turns to stone in whatever position they were before death. This can include standing up!
Sensitivity/Magical Ability: None, unless it's some sort of electrical thing. Like the house having some sort of spazzy power surge.
Supply List: Nothing
Game Transfers: N/A
Sample RP post:
Shadow found this day to start out like any other day. They didn't really have much variance to them. Follow Master in whatever Zoid he had at the time (currently the Geno Breaker), take out Zoids, occasionally fuse with the Geno Breaker to take down someone who was being stubborn. Really, the highlight of any of his days was when Master ran into his rival and needed Shadow to help battle the Blade Liger and that silver Organoid Zeke. That was a difficult battle, thanks to the amount of power the Geno Breaker had, and how long he had to stay fused to it.
But this day was not like the others. His systems were a little wonky. It happened from time to time and merely needed an internal diagnostic to determine the issue and then set it to be fixed. Sometimes that put his balance off, so when he slipped, it wasn't too surprising.
Landing on wood rather than sand though was.
The Organoid ‘blinked’ (his eyes dimming then brightening to mimic the action, since he lacked eyelids) and pushed himself upright. What was…a house? There hadn't been any buildings in this area, they'd been trekking through desert for an hour or two…they had been aiming to get to a base but this certainly wasn't it. Where was Master and the Geno Breaker? He ran a scan, but it came up with…absolutely nothing. What.
Shadow let out a roar of frustration, mostly at the sheer impossibility of this happening, and partially in hope that Raven would hear him and tell him to shut up and get over here. It would be the kind of reaction Master would give. But no…nothing. Hrm. He looked around, seeing the door and dealing it a normally strong blow from his tail. Which did absolutely nothing and annoyed him greatly. He roared again, this time purely in anger, and backed up, ramming it with his head once, twice, three times. Still nothing.
He growled low, displeased. Fine, he'd find another way out. The Organoid turned and stalked into the house itself, movements making soft mechanical noises. He refused to be stuck in here. He would get out. And then he'd bring the Geno Breaker back here when Master wouldn't mind him taking over and level the place.
See how it liked him then.
